Can You Wear Shorts And a String top under a wetsuit?

I'm going sailing tomorrow with my class but I don't want to wear my swimsuit..:S
Think I could wear pretty short short-shorts and a string top?

You basically want something that is skin tight and not cotton or any normal fabric, but one designed for the water. A short swim jammer or something would work well, but if you already have a swim suit just wear it...

The full wetsuit is best for colder waters, while the long john style suit is easier to get on and off during the transitions. You also need to figure out how much stretch you want in your wetsuit. You can get these suits with linings that have two, four or six way stretch. 

The more stretch means you will pay more for your wetsuit but it also means more flexibility and movement in the water. More expensive wetsuits usually also come with larger buoyancy panels. You can get suits with buoyancy panels that cover just the chest, the chest to the thighs or the chest to the ankles. With all these features it is best to determine just how much you really need. Beginners really don't need to shell out the money for a top of the line suit as they are often more than they really need. A person that is planning on participating in a lot of triathlons will want to consider making a larger investment upfront.
