surfing class at the Newport pier in southern california during the month of May?

So I'm gonna take a 5session surfing class during May. It meets at the newport pier in the afternoon....surfboards are provided, but no wetsuits....although I wouldn't want to wear someone elses wetsuit anyways....so i was wondering the water temp would be enough to get away with a rashguard...cause rashguards are alot cheaper than wetsuits, and I really don't want to buy one just yet....so...rashguard okay?

I surfed at the Huntington Beach pier and in Newport Beach in late May/early June a few years ago. I took lessons from a guy in Huntington named Robert Mann. He provided wetsuits & took us to Newport one day for free b/c the conditions weren't that great in Huntington. But yes, the wetsuit was definitely nice to have, the air was chilly and it would've gotten uncomfortable in the water without a suit.

Surfboards are available in many different sizes, colors, styles and lengths. They can be expensive but it is easy to learn how to find a surfboards sale. Keep your eyes on the surf shops in your area and online Surfboard companies. Many stores will put surfboards on sale during the off season. This is also an excellent time to get surfboard accessories and stock up on essentials such as surf wax.

Another way to find a great deal of surfboards is to contact the store manager. Explain to them what you are looking for and about what price range you need. They may be able to offer you a discount or let you know when their product will be on sale. If nothing else, you can get free advice from an expert and he/she can always contact you when an optimal surfboard comes in.

When you are searching for the right surfboard does not risk high quality for a lower price. The right surfboard for your weight and height is needed to have a successful day surfing. You also need to consider your area and the intensity of the waves. If you expect extreme conditions then you may need a longer narrower surfboard.
