Warts at 26? What is going on!?
My sister is 26 and has never had a wart in her life. When she turned 24, she went through a really stressful period. She lost her job and was going through a marital break-up. That's when it first happened. It seems like everytime she goes through a period of stress, a few pop up. Generally they are just a small brown spot or two, and rarely flare up completely. I keep telling her to reduce her stress and watch what she eats. I did some research, and it looks like only young kids or the elderly typically get warts. This is so odd.... She is TERRIFIED that she will spread them to her genitals (she has taken to showering with latex gloves - no joke) and is also worried she may spread them to other parts of her body (ie. face). Does anyone know anything about this? Or if stress can really bring them on? Maybe because her immune system was low? She also had a bout of Bells Palsy a few years back and apparently both are caused by the same type of virus? A friend suggested she take Lysene.
Yes, stress and impaired immune function can cause warts to appear - according to the Dr who treated my plantar warts.
Has she tried using Aldara cream on her warts? This is an immune modifier drug that is approved for genital warts but works on all types of warts. You apply a dab to each wart every other day for a month or six weeks. The wart gets red and inflamed then slowly disappears. You can use this on warts located about anywhere on your body (not eyelids).
She should see a dermatologist to get an RX and for followup on treatment.
The 3M Aldara web page is temporarily unavailable so I included this commercial Aldara page instead.

Bells palsy is thought to be related to herpes simplex (cold sores) virus where as warts are caused by various papilloma viruses so I don't see how there could be a direct connection other than maybe a depressed immune function contributing to both problems.
Sports Enthusiast
Riding that snow mobile this year? Getting your snowboard ready to hit the slopes? Well, you may want to try out a type of mitten instead of the usual gloves you tend to wear. The Burton GORE Mitt is perfect for any outdoor sport activity. Not only are they insulated but they are water and wind proof, so your hands can stay dry and warm. The Cabelas Motorsport Mitten is also a great choice for a guy who performs in any regular outdoor activity. They keep you warm while also keeping you comfortable with the plush lining. When your fingers are close together in one area, they tend to stay warm quicker and longer because of the body heat, and this is why a mitten can sometimes be preferred over a glove.
Commitment Phobic
Are you tired of feeling constrained in a glove and worry that a mitten will also worsen the problem? While a mitten can restrict your fingers, there are some that will let your fingers breathe freely. If you need to work outdoors while it is cold, you need to wear some kind of protection on your hands, but actually being able to function at work can be a problem. That is why the REI Thermo Gloves/Mittens is such a great option for you. They are warm provided they are fleece, but they are functional because it can instantly transform into fingerless gloves once the top flap is removed. Prefer wool to fleece? Try the Newberry Knitting Ragg Mitt/Glove from CombatTactical,'offers warmth as well as an option to have your fingers ventilated. This is a mitten that offers a man so much, without having to commit to just one type.
Everyday Wear
If you need something to keep your hands warm while you are walking the dog or running in or out of buildings, then all you need is something comfortable and warm. You do not need to play sports or be outside all day in the cold to be able to wear a type of mitten. There are plenty of styles that you can choose from, that will suit any type of lifestyle. For ultimate comfort and warmth, try the ARC Lobster Mitten. The fingers are kept warm because they are separated into pairs and your thumbs have mobility because they have their own pocket.
Mittens are a great alternative to gloves because they are able to generate more body heat and able to keep you warmer. Try a style that fits you needs and tastes and you may be surprised at how much you prefer a mitten to a glove!
