Scuba diving can be one of the most enjoyable recreational sports you will ever make. However, before you start getting all excited about scuba, you have to be very well aware that scuba diving does carry its own risks.

However, this should not stop you from a giving it a try. With proper care and caution, scuba diving can be a very relaxing sport. There are kids and elderly alike that enjoy this pastime without loosing their lives. Let me put this into context. Scuba diving is no more dangerous than driving a motorcycle. In fact I dare to say that today, it is more dangerous riding a motorcycle in a quiet street. But that does not stop bikers from getting on the road and enjoying their machine.

Firstly let us take a look as to why most scuba diving accidents occur. Well, according to statistics, most scuba diving deaths occur to divers who are not properly trained. Either due to not knowing how to operate their scuba equipment or because of a lack of understanding on the effects of scuba diving in deep water.

The first step you should need to do even before buying your own equipment is to get certified with a reputable certifying agency. Do not opt to get trained by a friend or a relative who is not a a certified scuba instructor. Instructors are highly qualified in specialized training and skill and will provide you with the necessary scuba skills which you will not get through an unqualified person.

Physical health is another important factor. Scuba diving is a very strenuous sport. Scuba fatalities from heart or circulatory problems account for about a quarter of all scuba diving deaths. Although you do not need to be a world class athlete, You should be healthy enough to take on the physical stresses associated to scuba diving. If you are in doubt of your physical capabilities, it would be wise to undertake a physical exam before a dive.

One of the most crucial scuba diving safety rules is - never dive on your own. No matter what level of expertise you have, you should always dive with a buddy. A key in scuba diving safety is to continue your diving eduction. A good diver will never stop learning. There are so many things to learn about which will give you the necessary confidence in scuba diving. It is therefore essential that you maintain your scuba skills by diving frequently.

The most important factor when it comes to scuba diving safety is that you take proper care of the equipment which is taking care of you when you are underwater. Service your scuba diving equipment at least annually and maintain your gear in good condition. If you own scuba tanks then it is best to pressure tested them every 5 years.

Investing in Scuba Diving - What Are the Expected Costs to Start Scuba diving?

Scuba diving does not come cheap. In fact it is quite an expensive adventure sport. You have to prepare yourself to invest scuba so before even starting you have to be sure that you are willing to make the commitment. However the experiences that scuba will give you are priceless.

You have to understand that the cost of scuba diving, are segmented into three parts. These are Scuba Diving lessons and scuba diving Certification Costs, scuba diving Equipment and the actual Dives.

To begin with, scuba diving lessons and an accredited scuba diving certification is required before exploring the underwater environment. Expect to pay around 0-0 for the course leading up to the scuba diving certification.

Does a full tank of air float when diving?

If you don't have the tank on you?

For the most part, the answer is no. The weight of the tank and the weight of the air in the tank will typically make the tank negatively bouyant (ie it will sink).

As you breathe the air out of the tank, it is possible for the tank to go from negatively bouyant to positively bouyant (ie it will float).

Diving is a unique and beautiful experience that everyone should try at least once in their life. Except perhaps hydrophobics, almost anyone can find the experience of being underwater and floating along both exhilarating and relaxing at the same time. However, without adequate training and preparation, diving can also be a dangerous task, with risks that may affect the preparation. With the proper equipment and precautions, however, is safe and wonderful. Here are some safety tips for diving starting to consider before taking up diving seriously.

Training - Get certified. Take a training course that is certified officer. If only for the sport of diving during their vacation, as some people do, make sure you have a certified instructor that accompany the dive. If diving seriously, take a course that will give you a diving certificate (not necessarily as an instructor, but it is recognized as a certified diver and capable).

Physical Fitness - see a doctor before taking up scuba. Make sure your doctor gives you a clean bill of health for the effort required physical in diving. While mentally relaxing, diving involves physical effort rather than people with weak cardiovascular and respiratory systems including can not tolerate. Asthma, a weak heart, trends asphyxia, all of which can disqualify a person from diving. Also note the physical capacity, namely swimming is a great bonus. Although not a necessity because the diving equipment that allows even non-swimmers to navigate underwater, it is still very good to know. After all, you will be under water ...

Avoid places where Bad Things Dwell - their training and certification in diving include a ranking that determines which risk levels under water that is able to address. Avoid any places that are not certified to handle. These areas are often very dangerous for untrained and usually involve special risks that need their own branch of specialized training, diving or some equipment to win. Examples include diving infested waters of sharks, icebergs, including coral reefs, with forms of life under water toxic or aggressive, underwater caves, and shipwrecks.

Team appropriate A Must - their training and certification should also include the care and maintenance of diving equipment. If you are using your own computer, make sure you have excellent care of it, keeping in top condition. No matter how you are skilled in navigating underwater, man is not biologically aquatic and his team is all that keeps you alive down there. Even if a heat wave, and not something related to the wind and rain, adverse weather can be problematic. Heat waves have been known to cause heat stroke and dehydration divers who thought they were safe from the heat wave because they were under water. Remember that water conducts heat more efficiently than air.

Know When bad things are Happening - learn and take in the signs and symptoms of the following medical conditions because they are diseases that usually affect divers. Hypothermia, dehydration, heat exhaustion and suffocation are the things we watch and diver-specific disease called decompression sickness, which occurs when the body of a diver is subject and is usually under water at high pressure and air bubbles that form in the body by prolonged inhalation of gases high pressure. Returning to the surface where the body is no longer subject to these pressures can lead to dizziness, sickness, and vomiting from the shock of the system. It is somewhat comparable to a person who is being used for air climbing the mountain, when the climber goes back to a normal atmosphere, and breathe more oxygen concentration.

mass = density * volume

mass = 1.2Kg * 100ft^3 = 1.2Kg * 2.83m^3 = 3.396Kg

The pressure is distributed uniformly throughout the container; no adjacent spaces experience any different force exerted on their "walls". Assume that you have a pump which is powerful enough to put air into the tank to the critical pressure of 228bar.

Use the ideal gas formula:
PV = N*R*T, P is pressure in atms, V is in liters, N is in moles, R is 8.3, T is temperature 293K.
We have all the information except N the number of moles of air, solve for N

N = 228 * 2830 / ( 8.3 * 293 ) = 335 moles

Each mole has
6 * 10^23 molecules
which means
6 * 10^23 * 16 * 1.66*10^(-27) Kg

335 moles in all, so multiply by the number of Kg for each mole:
Total # of Pressurized Kg:
massPressurized= 335 * 6 * 10^23 * 16 * 1.66*10^(-27) Kg = 5.34 Kg

The total # of Kg is the pressurized Kg plus the mass which was already in the tank(not pressing against the walls).
