What is a good military type camp for a Junior in H.S. who wants to be a Navy SEAL?

Anything like a summer camp, or some training-type activity that he could put his energy into and get a feel for military life?

As suggested by others, Young Marines is a good place to start.
There are sites out there that give a general description of what is expected out of a BUDs student.
Have him start working out. Running, sit ups, swimming, mostly endurance. Light weights, nothing to get him all bulked up.
Have him start on those daily word puzzles and sudoku to keep his mind sharp.

There no better way for them to show pride as a ring member in a visual symbol of their service which is typically used every day. Military Rings reflect their strength of character and commitment to protecting all of us. In brief, a ring member, is particularly appropriate to reflect service a person in the armed forces, past and present.

There are three basic types of military rings. At least one of them appeal to almost any member of the armed forces.

Diver stands at the edge of a light diving board, find forces on the pillars?

A 73 kg-diver stands at the edge of a light 5.20-m diving board, which is supported by two pillars 1.20 m apart.

Consider the forces of which there are three: the diver and the two supports. These must sum to 0 so:

Fa = force on pillar A
Fb = force on pillar B
Force of diver = mass*g = 73*9.8 = 715.4 N

Fa + Fb - 715.4 = 0

Now lets look at the torques using the left most pillar as our reference point so that pillar will produce no torque.

Pillar B produces an upward or clockwise torque = Fb*1.2
Diver produces a counterclockwise torque = 715.4*5.2 = 3720.08 N-m

The combined torques must be 0 so:
Fb*1.2 - 3720.08 = 0
Fb = 3720.08/1.2 = 3100.07 N (upward)

Now for Fa we use the force equation:
Fa + Fb - 715.4 = 0
Fa = 715.4 - Fb = 715.4 - 3100.07
Fa = -2384.7

So the forces are:
Pillar A force = 2384.7 = 2.3847 kN in a downward direction
Pillar B force = 3100.07 = 3.10007 kN in an upward direction

However Navy SEALs are taught close quarters combat with a knife, they will learn the different styles and techniques to leave your enemy incapicitated or if need be, dead.

Military swords have served as weapons for the army and navy in the world for centuries. Is there a standard outdoors-man's knife that is the best of its kind or would a Navy SEAL knife do the trick?

I am looking for an outdoors-man's knife that is considered to be the best of its kind by individuals in the industry. Kind of like the Rolls-Royce of outdoors-man's knives. Would a Navy SEAL knife be better for the job or not really right for the job of being in raw nature?

Axe, chain saw, heavy stainless steel machette if cutting down trees unless you are doing the city boy talk of calling boughs,twigs, small branches trees. A good thin blade axe ( one that rings like a bell when tapped ) and a good knife with good steel (not a macho one) and a sharpening method is all a good woodsman (outdoors man) needs.A knife is ok for doing movies or for chewing on trees with.

Apache trained Knife Fighter VS Navy SEAL?

What would happen if an Apache Knife Fighting Warrior were to have a knife fight with a Navy SEAL? Who would win?

the apache would mast likely not even be able to find the seal. if you see a seal, then they did something wrong, and they don't usually make mistakes. it would be a close fight, what it would all come down to is just what kind of training and gear that particular seal has on him. he may just have a standard issue knife, a tomahawk, or he could just be carrying his own knife. one sure advantage that the seal would have is modern day fighting skills that combine all different type of fighting tactics, and modern day body armor and camouflage. taking all of this into consideration, even though i don't know very much about the apache, i have to give the fight to the seal. sorry but i just can't see it any other way.

scuba diving gear?

ok im buying some gear for SCUBA diving and i found a snorkel, fin, and mask set. I would like to know if its any good. Heres the link to the product.

Depends what kind of diving you are doing and where you will be diving. I would never buy a black silicone mask unless I was into underwater photography. Having the silicone rubber all black will cut out lots of light from the water and reduce your visibility, which is perfect if you are a serious photographer but a disadvantage if you're not. Plus other divers will snigger at you as they look like gimp masks.

The fins look quite short, if you have powerful legs and a strong fin kick these will be fine, if you don't, longer fins will give you more propulsion through the water - not too long though or they'll make your legs ache.

The snorkel doesn't look like it has a purge valve, which is a one way valve at the bottom of the J which you can blow excess water out of, these are much easier to use than normal J shape snorkels.

As for the boots....... If you are diving from the shore where you will have to walk over rocks etc. they would be just the job. They look better for walking in than diving, if they are not flexible they will seriously hurt your ankles while you are finning. Iif you're diving from a boat or shore diving on sandy and gravelly surfaces the boots at the bottom of the page with the mask snorkel and fins will be perfect.

The gear looks good but it's expensive and you can get better for your money. You are better off visiting a dive shop where you can try the gear on before buying. Mares are one of the best makes of fins on the market. Clear silicon masks will give you more visibility and it's essential you try before you buy to find the best fit for your face shape. To test the mask fold the strap in front of it, put the mask up to your face ensuring your hair isn't trapped under it then breathe in through your nose, a good mask fit will stick to your face in this position only coming off when you breathe out. Check the bit below your nose doesn't sit low on your lip or it will leak when you hold the regulator in your mouth as it will break the seal.
