What is a good diving computer?

I am in the market for a new diving computer. I am a recreational diver with an Advanced Open Water PADI certificate. I am in the market for an entry left diving computer that can read Nitrox levels, has decent features, easy to read display and simple to use underwater.

I have a Suunto Gekko, which does everything you asked for. It will even download your dives to a PC, with a very slight programming modification.

In a decade, technical diving has stopped being the preserve of extremists to generalize, but specialization in the field. What's the best resort that has decent quality Golf & SCUBA diving?

I know this is asking a lot but I would prefer that the resort be in or near the Carribean, Virgin Islands, (E.) Mexico, etc. I would prefer an all-inclusive resort (extra $ for golf & SCUBA is ok but it should be at or near the resort). I am looking for a large group vacation (20-40 people), 1/2 are avid golfers and 1/2 are divers, so both activities should be average quality or better. THANKS

The 4 seasons hotel at Punta Mita is one that offer what you want, but if your budget isn´t that high there is also Mayan Palace resorts at Cancún, Puerto Vallarta.

If "no"(or close to none) pressure is applied to the walls of the tank then the quantity of air in Kg can be computed using the standard:

mass = density * volume

mass = 1.2Kg * 100ft^3 = 1.2Kg * 2.83m^3 = 3.396Kg

The pressure is distributed uniformly throughout the container; no adjacent spaces experience any different force exerted on their "walls". Assume that you have a pump which is powerful enough to put air into the tank to the critical pressure of 228bar.

228bar = 228atm, approximation
Use the ideal gas formula:
PV = N*R*T, P is pressure in atms, V is in liters, N is in moles, R is 8.3, T is temperature 293K.
We have all the information except N the number of moles of air, solve for N

100ft^3 = 2830Liters

N = 228 * 2830 / ( 8.3 * 293 ) = 335 moles

1 molecule of oxygen is 16amus, and each amu is 1.66 * 10^(-27) Kg

Each molecule is:
16 * 1.66*10^(-27) Kg

Each mole has
6 * 10^23 molecules
which means
6 * 10^23 * 16 * 1.66*10^(-27) Kg

335 moles in all, so multiply by the number of Kg for each mole:
Total # of Pressurized Kg:
massPressurized= 335 * 6 * 10^23 * 16 * 1.66*10^(-27) Kg = 5.34 Kg

The total # of Kg is the pressurized Kg plus the mass which was already in the tank(not pressing against the walls).

Total Quantity of Oxygen:
massTotal = 3.396Kg + 5.34Kg = 8.736Kg

Why is the pressure relief valve on my regulator high pressure to low pressure blowing?

I have a tank of argon was pressurized to about 2800PSI, created for use with a TIG welder. Upon opening the tank of argon, the safety valve 3000PSI begins releasing gases a rapid pace, but the tank pressure remains lower than 3000PSI. The U.S. Clean Air Act is a regulation that explains the role of EPA air quality, especially in protecting the ozone layer and the monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gases. While perfluorocarbons do not contribute to depletion of the ozone layer, scientists worry that the PFC may contribute to global warming because they have a very high global warming potential (GWP). GWP is a relationship developed to determine which chemicals and refrigerant gases in the atmosphere to create a greater warming. The greenhouse gas more common (GHG) talked about most often is the carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon or just for short. can i go snorkeling or diving if i cant swim is it possible?

I am going on a trip to punta cana doinican republic. i cant swim but would like to go scuba diving or snorkeling is that even possible for me? also any other suggestions on what me and my boyfreind could do in june thats when were going ?

I am a PADI Divemaster and Free Diver.
To scuba dive you need a certification of some kind and that will require some swimming skills.
Snorkeling on the other hand can be done on the surface of the water using a flotation device and some swim fins for your feet. I usually recommend purchasing a mask and snorkel to bring along as proper fit is essential to a good experience. Do not wear makeup or suntan lotion or any other lotion on your face when you go out to swim because it will cause your mask to completely flood the entire time.
A good snorkeling mask will cost no less than $45-$50, usually more.
There is a great snorkel for beginners from a company called "Ocean Master". It is completely dry even when you go under water, so it's great for beginners to keep you from having to worry about water in your mouth or clearing a flooded snorkel. Most places that rent equipment will just hand you a mask and snorkel and let you simply deal with whatever happens, so decide how important this experience is and if you want to invest in stuff or just go out once or twice. With the right gear, it's like you can fly. I love it!

How can I patch a power steering low pressure hose to regain steering to get it in for replacement.?

My power steering fluid sprung a leak. It had turned to much overnight in -8 degree weather and split the low pressure hose at the bottom of the reservoir after starting my 1993 Ford aerostar this morning. What can I use to patch the leak long enough to drive it in for replacement of the hose?
It had turned to mush overnight

Steve-

Depending on where the leak is located you can to the following.

Cut the hose and remove the split section. Then replace the section using a piece of steel or copper line and a pair of hose clamps.

You are going to need enough hose at either end of the splice to be able to clamp the metal line shut to prevent leaking.

Then you are going to need to add power steering fluid to the reservior.

After you have the fluid at the correct level you need to start the engine and let it come up to operating temprature so everything is warm. Then you will need to turn your wheel lock to lock slowly so the pump can purge out any air in the lines. You will need to turn the wheel several times. Then shut the engine off and check the fluid level and add as necessary.

Now this is only a temporary fix, and you will need to hit the shop to get the hose replaced. But I can tell you this. Just purchase the hose yourself from either the Dealership Parts House or your local parts store. If you can patch the hose, its not much more challenging to just replace it yourself.

Once you have done the patch job, you will see that the actual replacement of this part is not that much more involved. This is a very basic replacement process. I have done replacements like this myself several times, and twice on my parents Aerostar.

Just be sure that you hit Sears and get a set of Tubing Wrenches. Just ask the tool guy there and he will get you pointed in the right direction. These are a great set of wrenches for other jobs around the house. They are designed to keep you from stripping the jam nuts on the steel lines. Open End wrenches only grab two points on the nut, and have a tendancy to round off the hex points.

Maria la Gorda is equally popular, and is considered one of the best dive sites in Cuba. Located in the midst of a national park, Maria la Gorda provides a more isolated experience of Cayo Coco - there is little here except for natural beauty, some apartments and restaurants, the dive center and some of the best diving on the island. The dive sites are characterized by significant decreases, and vertical walls are littered with with caves and tunnels to explore.

If you prefer to go between diving ship wrecks rather than coral reefs, then Santiago de Cuba is the place to go, as there are a number of well-preserved remains are safe to explore.

How much?

Naturally, the cost of diving in Cuba will change depending on the season and visiting the company you go. Single dives typically cost between $ 25 - $ 50 U.S. states, with discounts available if you buy several dives at the same time. Each morning during the course of an hour, I am immersed in water. For an hour, I meditate to Holosync sounds of rain, water, waves, liquid drum that rolls beyond the impulse to a deeper source. both pipes are in use on an offshore installation, connecting to the flare boom.
the 6 inch line is used for the movemnt of gas and the 4 inch line to transport oil.
the pipes have an average inspected thickness of between 8.5mm and 10.5mm.

by original, do you mean as manufactured? If so, then the average thickness for schedule 40 pipe is 1/4 inch at the smooth wall, and up to 3/8 " on the welded seams.

if both 6 and 4 inch are under schedule 40 designation, then the average as manufactured hot rolled thickness should be within .019 inches of .25 inches per every 10 feet measured, with a standard deviation no greater than .0038 inches per 10 feet measured.

Single hose or double hose hookah?

Which one should I get? They are both the same size and the double hose is a few bucks cheaper than the single hose. Which would you get?

Here's my 2 cents.

Single hose can purge smoke in your hookah. Which a lot of people miss with multi hoses.

Double hoses, can't purge, and usually aren't auto seal so if it's just you have to plug the other hose and with two people who ever isn't smoking has to plug their hose for the other person to smoke.

With the exception of the Bambino they can be converted to multi hoses with a simple adapter.

They have hookahs is so many styles and sizes, I have a growing collection of them. After smoking out of my first Mya I was hooked. I can smoke solo or with 4 people from the same hookah with out ever letting go of my hose, or pulling out another hookah!
