What is a good diving computer?

I am in the market for a new diving computer. I am a recreational diver with an Advanced Open Water PADI certificate. I am in the market for an entry left diving computer that can read Nitrox levels, has decent features, easy to read display and simple to use underwater.

I have a Suunto Gekko, which does everything you asked for. It will even download your dives to a PC, with a very slight programming modification.

A Scuba diving computer can be a divers best friend. You will be allowed to stay longer if out of the dive tables. There are many types and / or styles of computers Diving can be chosen. What is the best is really personal preference and adapts to the form of diving. The following are some of the choices you have when purchasing your dive gear.

Console Dive Computer

A dive computer console is connected to other computers through a hose. Console dive computers typically come with a pressure gauge. The readings are typically larger than in a dive computer wrist so that also it may be easier on the eyes.

There are also options for a scuba diving equipment to be mounted on your hose (this is the guy who currently use) or clamp on the CB. Choose whichever is most comfortable for you and fits within your price range.

Wrist Dive Computer

The dive computer wrist is very popular. These types of large clocks and computers appear to be worn on the wrist. They will tell you everything you need to know at a glance. Some teams wrist diving are also capable of being mounted on a console.

Sometimes the face can be a bit small for all the information that the computer can display, so that make sure you will be able to read under water.

Unless they are air integrated and wireless (see below) dive computers wrist usually does not come with a pressure gauge. A small disadvantage is that these can be quite easy to misplace or lose.

Air integrated dive computer

Air integrated dive computers are increasingly common. An integrated computer measures the air pressure tank and then calculates how longer fits the current rate of air consumpetion. The integrated air dive computer tells you how much time can pass at any level of effort.

A team integrated air replaces the need for a submersible pressure gauge (SPG). One disadvantage of an integrated air team is that if it fails, you lose information on the amount of air is left in your tank. Dive more.

Nitrox Dive Computer

With Nitrox diving increasingly common, so are the teams that nitrox compatible. Even if you are not diving with Nitrox now, if you are thinking, even diving with Nitrox in the future, is probably worth buying a dive computer with Nitrox. This will save the expense of buying a new computer in the future. However, if I do not think ever diving with Nitrox, then there is no reason to pay by this feature. A standard air computer is probably less than your $ 100 + nitrox counterpart.

Hoseless dive computer

Diving hoseless team consists of the receiver (typically worn on the wrist or mounted on the AC) and a transmitor. The port attaches to transmitor high pressure regulator first stage and then sends the information of the air, without wires, the recipient. The receiver has the same appearance as normal dive computers.

This configuration reduces the number of hoses you need. Now there are even hoseless dive computers that can accept multiple transmitors signal - so you can even keep an eye consumption of his colleagues in the air. Of course, this capability is really for more advanced technical divers who may use different tanks on one dive. And of course we're talking about some heavy price tags here.

So think about how you dive and what capabilities you need. The right dive computer for one person may be completely wrong for another. Choose one that feels comfortable and one that is right for you wallet.

What is comprehensive set of mid-range of dive gear cost me?

I need all the bits for the diving base. N nitrox, ice, or diving deep. My probable maximum depth of 150 feet is rarely in freshwater. My main goal is glorified snorkeling in 10-50 feet. Any help would be great!

How deep can a scuba diver be certified for with tanks of compressed air and a scuba mask?

This is a duplicate question so I'll just bring my answer from the other one, over here.
The recognized limit is 130 feet for an advanced level recreational diver on air. This is not necessarily the limit that a technical diver may restrict himself to. It's not uncommon for a experienced tech diver that dives within their ability, to go to 150 to 170 feet on normal air. I've known a few that have dived 240 feet on a regular basis. They also happen to be experienced and have the proper training and equipment and observe decompression obligations.
That number of 130 feet is just that. A number that the certifying agencies have come up with for the average diver with average equipment and training, that in most cases will be safe for the diver.
The reverse can be true as well. There are some divers who can't get to 90 feet without being seriously nitrogen impaired.

In general, optical lenses are available in a broad range -1.0 to -8.5 (for nearsightedness), and 1.0 to 4.0 (for vision). The lenses may be plastic or glass. Keep this in mind when looking for a scuba diving mask properly.

How much money does beginner's scuba diving gear usually cost?

I am not looking for "top of the line" stuff. I am just looking for gear that is will work for a beginner.

New or used?
You'll save 50% on used but you ought to ensure everything fits correctly and has been professionally serviced before purchase.
New kit will set you back at least a 1500 bucks, bare minimum:
1/ BC: Anywhere from 300-600 bucks for an entry level. 1200 bucks gets you into the big league.
2/ Mask: 80- 150 bucks. Make sure it fits.
3/ Fins: 90-250 bucks. Add 50 bucks for booties if the fins are open heel.
4/ Snorkel: 40 bucks
5/ Lead weight: About 30-50 bucks depending on how much you need and it's type. More if your BC has proprietary pockets.
6/Exposure protection appropriate to the area you'll dive: This varies considerably from a 3mm shortie all the way up to a compressed neoprene dry suit. 120 bucks to over 3 grand. Yours will be somewhere in between.
7/ A tank: 200 bucks. Two are preferable. This isn't a "mandatory item", but if you dive regularly it's a "convenient item". I disagree with the previous poster on this item though. If you dive semi regularly...most DO own at least one tank. Also, he's incorrect about airlines and tanks. None will take them on board so there is no "100 dollar charge". You could conceivably have one shipped after it's passed security and has had the valve removed but then you're looking at paying for two vizzes (30 bucks each) before the tank is fill able again. In the case of air travel, everyone leaves tanks and weights at home.
8/ The biggie....a reg set: 400 bucks to 1500. It's all going to depend on what you'll be doing with them. No point in buying a reg set that isn't compatible with Nitrox. You may want to go there later. If the set you purchase isn't nitrox compatible...you're spending more money later and going through the hassle of selling off your previous set. Same if you plan on cold water dives. You'll want environmentally sealed ones. All that costs a little extra at first but saves you money later if you buy smart.
9/ A light. 70-1500 bucks
10/ A dive knife or shears. 60 bucks and up.
11/ A dive computer. Very handy. 300 bucks and up. Saw one for 24grand but it was gold plated. That's a bit of a luxury.

Ideally you should be looking for gear that will last you, fits well and fit into where you plan to dive and how far into the sport you intend on going. Planning ahead will definitely save you some serious cash. No need to buy things twice because your original won't hack what you plan to do next. I guess the bottom line is that you get what you pay for and you pay to play. Don't skimp on this stuff. I disagree somewhat about rental gear that someone posted. Some of it like tanks or lead...sure.The rest of it needs to fit you. It's potentially unsafe if it doesn't. That rental reg set may have been dragged through the dirt just prior to you getting it as well. I've seen a pal rent a BC only to have the infator dump come right off the bladder. He lost their lead on that too since he couldn't inflate the BC and had to ditch. Guess who had to pay for the rental lead? He managed to avoid paying for the BC because it was obviously shoddy maintenance but then again..he should have caught that before he left the shop. Don't trust all rental gear is a good mantra.

Scuba Large Diving

What's the best resort that has decent quality Golf & SCUBA diving?

I know this is asking a lot but I would prefer that the resort be in or near the Carribean, Virgin Islands, (E.) Mexico, etc. I would prefer an all-inclusive resort (extra $ for golf & SCUBA is ok but it should be at or near the resort). Please dont buy gear online, its one of the biggest mistakes there is! Try and find some used gear at an affordable price, you dont want to get new cheapo gear rather than quality used gear. Ask around at a local dive shop, they might be looking to sell some of their old rental equipment or they know someone who wants to get rid of their stuff and would be willing to sell cheap. Most dive shops have a decent selection of used gear, just make sure someone from the shop checks it over to make sure its still sound stuff. If you have the chance, try before you buy.

I don't know what type of SCUBA gear bag to get.?

What are good quality scuba dive gear brands?

Right now I'm looking for mask, fins, snorkel, and boots.
Is it better to rent or buy your air tanks/cylinders?
Also, it needs to be affordable, because I'm not looking to be completely broke, like at least under $300.

In all reality, no scuba based manufacturer can afford to make bad scuba equipment. I'm sure that you have already been made aware that comfort and fit is the main priority when it comes to purchasing scuba equipment. Scuba equipment refers more to the regulator, buoyancy compensator and scuba cylinder. The mask, fins, snorkel and boots, though used in Scuba, are often referred to as snorkeling equipment because they may also be used for the sport of snorkeling.
Be careful though. Masks and fins that are considered suitable for snorkeling may not be suitable for Scuba Diving. Diving equipment is more complex than some think. For the most part, people think that if you have a sufficient quantity of air and palms feet, you're ready to dive. Wrong.
