Scuba Diver

At the southernmost tip of the USA is the beautiful San Diego, California - my hometown and a playground for all sports from skiing, sailing and surfing to fishing, Snorkeling and Scuba Diving.
As a diver, you will find a large selection of marine life in Wreck Alley, in the forests of kelp and various massive underwater park in La Jolla.
The park combines La Jolla Canyon and Scripps Submarine Canyon, an underwater treasure of marine life including some of the creatures Most bizarre among us.
The valley of this huge canyon system is about 1600 feet below. Its steep walls rise into two branches just made for convenient access to scuba diving from the beach is at La Jolla Cove or La Jolla Shores.
At La Jolla Shores side you can start at the foot of Valicitos Street and swim to the buoys that mark the upper canyon. It is better to be clever enough to swim in surfing. Otherwise, take a diving charter boat dive from Mission Bay.
When you come down to about 30 feet, you'll be on the edge of the Canyon Scripps and its peak, the narrow walls that plunge ever closer to the abyss. Be very careful because the dropoff is almost vertically few points, often involving overhanging walls.
Visibility is good, but variable due to occasional upwellings and strong currents. Winter temperature Water in the 50s, summer water rises in the high 60s and sometimes not very 70s.
Scuba divers and Scientists have made the Scripps La Jolla Canyons and one of the most studied environments submarine in the world. You can see the prestigious Scripps Institution of Oceanography and thrown from any point along the La Jolla coast. Valley Fan of La Jolla Canyon was the site of the world's first deep sea drilling, which core samples were taken from thousands of meters beneath the seabed in 1961.
15 minutes south of La Jolla is Wreck Alley, about one mile off Mission Beach. Here you can explore artificial reefs created by the eight sunken ships and a couple of unlikely structures that happened there by both accident and intent.
The latest addition is the 366-foot Canadian destroyer Yukon, which was intentionally sunk here in about 100 feet of water during the year 2000. The Yukon still has years to go before it can compete with its older companions as a jewel cover densely populated areas.
The Ruby E, a 170-foot Coast Guard cutter based in about 70 feet of water, was covered stem to stern with vibrant colors Corynactis Californica anemones there are only a few years. But being one of the finest performances for the eyes of divers has so much traffic diving that some of life has disappeared. Yet you can still drift into the wheelhouse and be absolutely dazzled by thick growths in an impressive array of colors. Be sure to bring a light.
Then there is the cut kelp Del Rey and several smaller wrecks, with all growing much more than others because of lighter traffic diving.
Now, if you want to feel like you're on a motorway diving, do not forget to visit the Ingraham Street Bridge at about 60 feet deep. It was demolished and deposited here in the 50 or 60 make way for a new bridge at the Mission Bay Aquatic Park. Now, with some 50 years of insurance, it became more like a natural barrier abundant with growth of kelp, fans and algae, large colonies of filter feeders and all marine life that comes to snacking.
Finally, there NOSC Tower, thanks a wave of 20 feet that has dealt a fatal blow to the darkness of a winter night in 1988. For three decades the NOSC Tower had served as research platform off Mission Beach for the Naval Electronics Laboratory and the Naval Ocean Systems Center. Now it is a tangle of steel covered anemones, mussels and star for fabulous scuba diving in a world of amazing colors. Bring a light to the show and a sharp knife for the fishing line and rope that you're likely to find.
Bring your camera too, of course, for a dive photography tall. Average visibility of 15-25 feet and by the way, hunting is not wanted here.
You can reach this place underwater on a large Mission Bay Charter boats such as Blue Escape (619-223-3483), Dive Connection (619-523-9282) and DiveQuest (800-303-3483).
