Scuba Dive Gear

Scuba diving, while fun, has its share of dangers like any other outdoor sport. Know how to recognize and treat potential problems before (or when) they occur can make the difference between life and death when you're underwater. Here are some safety measures to take, and some things that can happen that you seek.
Contingency plan for each emergency - it is good legislation Murphy old made that "everything that can go wrong will go wrong." While the statement seems cynical and pessimistic, it actually helps sometimes to adopt this approach, especially when planning for emergencies. Take enough supplies to treat all potential problems you'll encounter, and save way to obtain outside help at hand in case something arises that you were not prepared.
Victims of Decompression: DCS - recognizing symptoms of both diseases. They will need treatment in an emergency decompression chamber. They are: decompression sickness, or DCS, and embolism cerebral arterial gas, or a cage. DCS occurs because the body forms pockets of air in it when using compressed air, and because it is subjected to increased external pressure of the water. DCS occurs because the nitrogen from the air supply to a person unlike oxygen, is not fully utilized and absorbed by the body, and increased levels of nitrogen, unless controlled by a device on the breathing apparatus called a regulator, collects air pockets in the body. These create a feeling of cramps, nausea and dizziness and physical sensation referred by divers as The Bends. DCS usually occurs on a downhill too fast, like the body and the regulator can not fast enough to offset the increased water pressure.
Victims of Decompression: Cage - Cerebral arterial gas embolism occurs more often following a rapid uncontrolled ascent, versus the divers windings affected due to a rapid descent. This is manifested by acute pain in the body, especially in the sinuses, head and in the lung. This is a very serious condition that can be potentially fatal. Cage is caused when the rapid rise of the plunger causes air bubbles similar to those formed during DCS, but this time the pressure changes air bubbles that trigger the body are due to a sudden decrease in water pressure around the body. This causes the air trapped to have a higher volume pressure than the surrounding atmosphere. Indeed, the diver is an unopened can of soda, which has shaken real underwater, and once it leaves the water, the same effect as opening the can ...
Injuries - Injuries that can occur from decompression range from simple discomfort such as nausea, sharp pains and cramps, to more serious matters. A bubbles potentially most damaging is trapped in reaching the heart or brain system. As some of you have seen May to television, there are episodes where a villain kills his victim sleeping in a hospital by injecting air into their dextrose. Air bubbles formed in the veins to cause cardiac arrest when they hit the heart or a stroke if they affect the brain. This is a fact true, and causes air bubbles in decompression May have this effect, it is big enough. This is one of the main reasons why controlled ascents and descnet rates are so vital to safe diving.
Other potential diseases - without the disease decompression, which is the type most common and serious injuy incurred by divers, other diseases are mostly in the atmosphere in question. Hypothermia is caused by diving in extremely cold water, or diving with a wetsuit that does not provide sufficient thermal insulation. Dehydration also occurs on a dive, surprisingly. Be sure to drink plenty of water before you go. Asphyxiation occurs on the other hand, if the supply of air used is flawed and does not give the body enough oxygen to function.
Rescue Diving - Take a first aid class that you will recognize the signs of the conditions mentioned above, and also teaches you the steps emergency to be used in these events. Do not rely on the basic text or verbal descriptions, make sure the first aid course gives you full hands on training in the treatment of these injuries. Also keep your first aid kit well stocked on your dives, and still have a way to call with others, including a radio transmitter, cellular phone, and even signal flares. Although seemingly cumbersome and useless, these elements can make the difference between life and death.
