How strong a swimmer you need to be scuba diving?

I always wanted to learn to dive diving, but I'm not a very good swimmer. I can swim, but I do not feel really comfortable in the water. I do not go to the pool or beach, but I really think I would go diving. I'd like to see what lies beneath the surface. To me, it would be like any other world. Has anyone had the same experience of diving? You do not hesitate to swim or dive? Any advice?

Regarding swimming and scuba diving, the key comes down to comfort in the water. I answered this before, so here is a copy-paste a previous response: I had students who were learning to swim at a time when they were in my class underwater. First, you must be comfortable in water. Most problems I encounter while diving courses are linked to people being uncomfortable in the water. If you can not swim, but are comfortable in water, so I can teach you diving underwater (see the following article for the exception to this comment). Secondly, there is a swimming assessment (either swimming or Pitch / FIN / snorkel swimming) and water from the tread, which are both required to complete the course. Finally, there is no "traditional" swimming motion (such as freestyle and breaststroke) in scuba diving. You are propelled by fins using a variety of kicks. That said, you will be doing activities in / on water, so a certain level proficienty bathing is necessary for security reasons.
