My 6 year old wears a size 1 1/2 shoe, which should put her squarely in the middle of the Small/Medium size, but when I bought them, she could not even begin to get her foot in them. Wonderful idea. The fins were the perfect length for small legs. Basically they are plastic fins covered with neoprene Great for 'scratch prevention'. (If you've ever been standing too close to your child while they were swimming with fins on you know what that means!) HOWEVER, the L/XL size says it fits shoe size of 4-6.
