Water sports?
My boyfriend wants us to take up water sports. He says it's a great turn on. However I am very nervous in the water as I got a fright when I was young. What should I do.
It was canoeing he had in mind. I don't know anything about that other stuff some of you are mentioning
Best tip I can offer is learn to swim first!!! In the pool and in the sea. A good first water sport is kayaking. If you are not confident straight away with going out on a river or in the sea, learn in a swimming pool, then have a go in the great outdoors!! Tis brilliant. Then try other sports like bodyboarding, surfing etc and see how they go. Just have great fun and don't worry too much, nothing really can go wrong if you think about it!!

We try to take the air below the surface, skim-built on the surface, and use the power of his resistance to the construction the strength of our bodies.
Water sets the stage for some of the most unique and yet some of the most common events in the world. Than covering 75% of the surface of our planet, and which constitute over 90% of our bodies, it makes you wonder why water has played an important role in our personal and professional life. Let us in!
Swimming:
Swimming is the most popular water sports because it is easily accessible and inexpensive. In several of the earliest stories of classic literature, is portrayed as a symbol of heroism and religion. The first known documentation of the different Swimming is the method of Nicholas Wynman's Dialogue on the Art of Swimming, originally published in 1538. (Historians are still trying find out who was to have that dialogue.)
With the development of the pits as we know them today, it became easier and safer for the average people around the world to learn to swim and master it. Swimming became an Olympic event for the first time in 1896. The swimming events are better known insanely ambitious attempts to swim the English Channel. It is a feat that requires strength, endurance - both for distance and the cold waters notorious - and a lot determination and courage.
The first man to swim the English Channel was Matthew Webb of England, who did so in 1875. In 1926, Gertrude Ederle of United States became the first woman to cross the channel. Speed, endurance, so - different styles of swimming are continually evolving.
Snorkeling:
Snorkeling is a water sport which involves very exciting to see exotic fish and turquoise life. It's like jumping into a painting where Opinions may vary from the extreme quietness paralyzing fear. Humans are undoubtedly the land mammals, and snorkeling is how we enter a world that was not done for us. Long ago, snorkels were made of hollow reeds.
After swimming, diving is the next oldest sport of water. There is a reference to it made by Pliny the Elder in first century Rome. Leonardo Da Vinci, the world famous painter and lesser known inventor, created a more modern tube the symbol of the Venetian senat. Snorkel Da Vinci was a tube attached to the leather helmets used by divers. Most agreed that his invention was actually better than a cane. Snorkels modern days are J-shaped tubes, usually rubber, which open at one end and attached to a mouthpiece at the other end. The average length of the probe is 2 feet (61 cm).
Surf:
Surf was reported that first appeared in Hawaii, not as many people mistakenly believe. Archeology indicates that the Peruvians (the people of Peru) is "hanging ten" as soon as 200B.CE Their boats were made of reeds, and even today, the local fisherman can be seen riding their "little horses of reeds."
Surf really gained popularity in the U.S., mainly in California, in the decade 1920. In the 1960s, was a popular sport among young people. When it first appeared surfing as a sport of water, the best surfers were long, boards handmade. They were heavy and difficult to maneuver in the water.
Modern surfboards are made of synthetic materials are lighter, and are shaped aerodynamic ways enabling greater maneuverability and the wave motion that was possible. International Surfing Championships are held around the world, including Australia, California, and of course - Hawaii.
Water Polo:
Water sport that originated in England in the 1870s, is water polo. It began as a form of rugby played in rivers and lakes. The name comes from the English pronunciation of the Balti word for ball, pulu. Americans began playing in the twentieth century. Today there are several college teams and clubs in the sport.
For a time, Americans tried their own version of water polo used a rubber ball and a big pool. This game became known as softball water polo. However, due to a high incidence of violent behavior and rough play, this variation was abandoned. Water polo men became an Olympic event in 1900 and women's water polo was added in 2000.
These are just some water sports. There are many others that are just as exciting as rafting, skiing, underwater hockey, diving, etc.
Whether participating or just watching, water sports are incredibly fun. If you want to take a fresh break from the traditional sports like football and basketball, give your body the unique experience of water sports.
