Scuba Water
Do you need different equipment if you want to go cold-water scuba diving?
As opposed to warm water scuba diving, is cold water diving distinctly different when it comes to equipment? Other than maybe a thicker wetsuit, are there differences in equipment or the way you should shop for equipment?
1. Thicker wetsuit or even a drysuit.
2. You'll need booties as well. This full foot-pocket fins would leave your feet exposed.
3. Thicker gloves. Those reef gloves are only good for guarding against cuts and such. They don't offer much in the way of thermal protection.
4. Full hood.
5. Cold water regulator. This primarily relates to the first stage. Something that is environmentally sealed would be good. A warm water regulator has a greater chance of freezing (leading to free flowing) in cold water.
6. Added weights for the thicker wetsuits/drysuits.

Buying a wetsuit can be somewhat confusing. There are many different styles, thicknesses, qualities and prices to choose from.
Trying on a wetsuit is not the more fun to do in the world either. However, it is a necessary evil if you want to keep the heat on the dive.
So with that in mind, here are the items you should look for when buying a wetsuit:
* Style - You will first need to decide is what style of suit you want.
Want a full wet suit or a shortie (has short arms (usually) and legs that end just above the knee)? Want a Farmer John or Jane (suit two pieces - one piece has long legs with a sleeveless top, which is usually used with a coat of government)? Do you need a hood?
A shortie is for warm water diving and is what I wear when I need you more than a skin (mine is 2 mm). Allow your arms and legs exposed to water so you have to decide whether it's hot enough for you.
A full scuba diving wet suit is probably the most common / popular and is what I see, while the majority of diving in the Caribbean. This style is one piece and has long arms and legs.
Buying a suit hood is not necessary (for most people) for diving in warm water. It's more for cold water diving. I can count on one hand the number of people I've seen wear a hood, while the diving in the Caribbean.
* Thickness - The thickness is probably the most important factor that will determine your comfort underwater. Choose the thickness depending on the type of water and diving you will do. For the Caribbean, 3mm should be sufficient for most people.
* Quality of Construction - This is a piece of tape attached adhesive on the seams that will help with comfort. While it is convenient, it is likely to give the fastest of all the seams.
Another of the basics of mainly located in the "negotiation" and "cheap" wetsuit is excessive locking point that joins a neoprene seam by sewing the edges together. The crest is on the inside of an application can be uncomfortable. If this board is stretched to the limit of the seam can be opened and let a little water.
At the other end of the quality of construction, is the blind spot. Here the material is first glued and stitched on the side. However, the point not to drill the material that would give an entry point of water. The same stitch is then done on the reverse side and interlocks with the first point. This gives the strongest seam. Of course, as you say, this type of construction is more expensive in the scuba diving wetsuit.
In between is the seam stitching found in many warm water wet suits (mine included). The two pieces of neoprene overlap and merge. Unlike the over-locking point, the board provides floor making it more comfortable for the diver.
While water can sometimes seep through these boards, when stretched, will be much less that with excess locking point. Seams, with any of these points, helps prevent water leaking through the seams. It also helps the comfort factor, for diving wetsuit more comfortable against the skin.
* - The type of neoprene neoprene diving wetsuit is affecting the quality of demand and of course the price. Diving suits are made of neoprene is a synthetic rubber foam.
The neoprene has thousands of tiny bubbles of isolation. The material is usually laminated with a nylon-based material. Once this stretch fabric dries, the neoprene becomes pliable and flexible. The type of neoprene wetsuit diving is affecting the quality of demand and of course the price.
The high quality neoprene is gas blown and made with thousands of tiny bubbles of nitrogen gas. While compress and wear out like all neoprene, which is the most durable type of neoprene. A chemical blowing suit feels softer but not as durable.
We hope this guide will be easier to make your purchase. I hope there's a nice warm dip.
