The oil pressure gauge on the 2001 Chevy Silverado drops to zero, which could be the problem?
When Im driving the low oil pressure by little starts to fall to zero. I am more and turn the engine and wait about 5 minutes and restart and goes back to 40. Is this the indicator or oil pressure sensor or oil pump? When Im driving the oil pressure starts to gradually reduced to zero. Reviewed by oil no problem. the truck has 172,000 miles. I heard a noise 1 engine time it happened. his 2nd has not yet happened twice the time I hear anything
Oil level, pressure sensor and pressure relief valve, blocked oil lines and / or galleries, worn oil pump. It might even be a blocked oil filter. Change your oil and filter first - which is pretty cheap - Then start looking at the pressure relief valve, the sensor, the oil pump. Be careful - you must have at least (to varying to) 15 pounds of oil pressure at idle, and somewhere in 40 to 60 pound while driving, depending on your engine. Do not drop so low before shutting the engine off, or you really some significant damage. Good luck!
