Do I need to purchase my own equipment to go snorkeling?
I'm going on a charter snorkel excursion near Molikini.(Maui) Should I buy my mask,snorkel and fins before I go?
When u go on an excursion the equipment is included in the price, if ur not sure call or e-mail them. All the charter boats supply their own. The best is the Trilogy to Lanai. Do not rent from hotels they'll rip you off, go to Snorkel Bob's in Napili (between Kaanapali & Kapalua), they might have one in lahaina also.Honolua Bay North of Kapalua & Ritz Carlton is a fish reserve along w/ the adjacent bay called Slaughterhouse. You can rent ur own & drive, but I reccommend u hop on a tour sailboat, they'll supply lunch, equipment, take u right to the fish, & a beautiful guided tour that's worth every dime! Aloha, have fun! Wailea & Kihei have many great spots also, just ask any lifeguard so the currents don't take you to Tahiti. We have some extremely strong currents in Maui, I'M NOT KIDDING! I have pulled many tourists in when they got caught in a current & i recognized they were headed out from the Island. We have a current called the Molokai Express. You figure out why. Always speak to the lifeguard. I wouldn't even trust all of the locals, some of them may trick you.
