Hookah Diving

How does hookah diving work ?

I have 2 questions about hookah diving, please explain to me.

1. I've heard that hookah diving system runs by gasoline, how does it produce the air for you to breathe?

2. Do you actually tie the air hose around your body or waist ?

I am a scuba instructor for http://www.visibilityunlimited.com and though I have never tried the hookah systems I have read up on them and have talked to people who have used them. Hookah diving, also called Surface Air Supply (SAS) was the precursor to Scuba which stands for self contained underwater breathing apparatus.
Instead of taking cylinders (scuba tanks) down with you, the air in a hookah system come from the surface. The air is pumped down to the diver via a gas or electrically driven air compressor. The air supply may also from pressurized air cylinders as well but the cylinders are not on the diver.
Hookah systems for divers tends to be limiting to the amount area that a diver can explore because they basically have only so much air supply hose between them and their air supply.
Scuba on the other hand allows the diver more freedom because they have their air supply in pressurized cylinders on their backs.
As far as tying the air line around the body or waist? I am 95% positive that they do not do that. They may have safety lines (not air supply lines) attached to their bodies but there is always a chance for the lines to get fouled up.
Hookah diving is still used today in the form of snuba and in commercial diving where the helmets are used. I think they still make the brownie third lung which is a gas powered compressor that floated in the water at the surface (scares the heck outta me) but Haven't seen or heard of them in quite awhile.

Explore the world under the sea is always fascinating. But to move freely underwater is not as easy as moving earth. To be alive in one of the water must have a full tank that breathing oxygen is not possible under the water for humans. In addition to the enormous pressure and water temperature differences are much more different territory.

For Scuba (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) diving, divers, surfers, sailors, swimmers, adventurers of water, surface water sports persons often use these things, also full of oxygen:

1. MASK
2. FINS
3. Snorkeling
4. Diving suit and a lot of things.

Maintaining body temperature is one the biggest problems for divers. Dry suit is a type of garment that gives the user water protection for your skin. Combinations watertight are used to prevent entry of water. Wings are used when the water temperature is between-20C to 150C.

There are three types of dry suits:

1. Waterproof Membranes
2. Drysuits Neoprene
3. Hybrid combinations Waterproof

1. Waterproof - are built mainly of fine materials, vulcanized rubber or a composite of nylon and rubber butyl. These types of dry suits offer no real protection heat cold water. And these dry suits are not tight, and must be large joints to give the user the time flexibility of movement. Sailors and boaters who may be out of the membrane water prefer combinations watertight. Drysuits membrane are easy to use and time. Membrane Drysuits are used mainly in spring.

2. Neoprene dry - providing thermal protection in colder waters, to maintain buoyancy. Neoprene is Insulation Materials heat made Heavy duty fabric and this fabric is coated with rubber or vinyl chloride, better known as Venyl. Neoprene dry suits are considered better as compared to the membrane dry suits. Neoprene has the best properties that make it more useful, chemical resistant, flotation more elastic and waterproof. Neoprene dry increase thermal protection, even if a leak. Neoprene dry suits are mainly used for sports surface water and cold water.

3. Waterproof Hybrid - are produced by the combination of material the membrane and the neoprene material. In hybrid combinations dry top coat is made of material of the diaphragm and below the belt is made from material Neoprene. So close down Installation of dry suits gives users the convenience of kicking water travel distances when they swim. And dry suits in bulk top allows the user the freedom movement of weapons. Hybrid combinations watertight are used primarily for sports surface and cold water where divers go deeper.

A zipper Modern waterproof gloves and waterproof Hydro. From the zip lines are mainly located in the shoulder or in front of the torso, wear dry suits with ease. Hydrogloves wings can be permanently attached to the ring of impermeable or attachment. Raincoats modern have the air inflation valve, which allows the diver to control buoyancy in demand by injecting air regulator to get rid of compression under deep water. A dry suit is used more insulation undersuit.

A modern dry suit has a vent valve air which allows the diver to the request for release of air pressure increases as it leaves the water. Fan valves may be automatic or manual. It is used as pressure relief valves. Most fans are automatic on the shoulder of dry suits and the fans are in the hand wrist.

A modern version of the double piece drysuit is manufactured Customworks Idaho. These two pieces impervious to all types of comfort for divers, boaters, swimmers, sailors, divers and adventurers of the water. They dry suits into account the needs of their users.
