How much weight should i use to go diving?
I need to know how much weight i will need to attach to my diving belt in order to sink in water. I weigh 200 pounds and am 6 foot 1 if that makes any difference. What do you think?

A 7mm single in fresh water, I'd start at about 20-22 pounds. Shouldn't take more than 26. You'll be about neutral. At 28 and you'll be fairly negative. In salt, add 2 pounds to your start weight. If the suit is a double 7mm add 4 pounds right off the bat.
You're best to go in light and add lead in 2 pound increments until your eyeballs are at surface level with your body vertical in the water column. That will get you just about neutral and a pike with legs out of the water will start you down such that once you're down 5 feet or so, the suit's compression will be enough to keep you down comfortably with little effort.
Now...the kicker is what your rig configuration is. Little things like jacket style BC or alum tanks can make a difference here too. That's why you should start light and trial and error it for a few minutes before you plan on your dive. Once you have that number for that particular set up, remember it. It'll only change if you change gear or if you go back and forth bewteen fresh and salt water.

Scuba diving is a sport that many people to afford, and it's a fun experience for virtually anyone, except perhaps those who can not swim and are afraid of water. This is not without risks, however, and like all outdoor recreation or sports injuries can be sustained sometimes fatal, unskilled or by divers under-equipped. For the noobie there, here are some preparatory steps you must take and some information you need to make sure you get your first dive safely.
Certification and Training - take a course which actually gives you the certification for scuba diving.
