California laws on knives in cars?
Alright, so I have a scuba diving knife in my glove box in my car. It has a sheath but it's a fixed blade and is sharp The blade is about 4 inches. I keep it there for self defense if ever need be. Is this legal?

A fixed blade knife is a "dirk or dagger" under CA law, which means that it is illegal to have it concealed ON YOUR PERSON. (Pen. C 12020.) There is no state law prohibiting having a concealed knife in a vehicle, so long as it is not on your person. There might be some local ordinance, though I believe those are all unenforceable. If you told a police officer you had a knife in the glove box, he would probably thank you for letting him know and tell you to be careful with it.
I'd note, however, that a knife is a very poor defensive weapon. You'd be better off investing in a stun gun or pepper spray.
