Buoyancy compensator?
What is a good BCD to buy? I want something with integrated weights, comfortable, and not bulky at all. Also I would like it to not be too expensive.
Your criteria is contradictory. You pay more for what you're looking for. Take a long hard look at what sort of diving you want to pursue. If you intend on moving into technical for instance or if you are going to be the vaction warrior. If you're going tech, no doubt about it, you'll be heading for an OMS or Dive Rite rig. It's going to get pricey, with back plates, bands, pockets, integrated lead stowage and different cells. But, you'll have a BC that you can reconfigure for anything and it will be back inflation.
Vacation warrior? Spend what you budget allows. The cheaper ones will be the jacket style, and more expensive the back inflation and integrated lead.Stick to a basic travel BC, they are becomming more prevalent nowadays. I'm not going to rate one BC over another as they all have strengths and weakness' and are made for different diving.

Calculation of the buoyancy factor and its application
Buoyancy factor is the factor that is used to offset the loss of weight due to immersion in the drilling fluid.
Before explaining further, it is very important to explain the basic concept of buoyancy. Buoyancy is the upward force that keeps things afloat. The net buoyancy force is equal to the increase in the amount of weight of fluid displaced by the volume of the body. This force will make things lighter when immersed in liquid. For now, we feel lighter when we are in a pool because that is the effect of buoyancy.
How to calculate the buoyancy factor.
The formula below shows how to determine this factor.
Buoyancy factor (BF) = (65.5 - density of the mud weight in pounds per gallon (PPG)) ÷ 65.5
For example, if the weight of the drilling fluid is 13.0 pounds per gallon (PPG), according to the above equation, the factor can be calculated by simple before the density of the mud weight in the equation.
BF = (65.5 to 13.0) ÷ 65.5
BF = 0.8015
How to use the buoyancy factor.
In order to calculate the actual weight of the chain of drilling mud, the weight of air drill string when the buoyancy factor equal to the actual weight of drill string, called marked weight in the drilling fluid. The simple equation shows the relationship between the actual weight in the drilling fluid.
Actual Weight = Weight of Air Drill String x BF
If weight air in a process of drilling is £ 350 pounds (KLB), we can use this relationship to determine the weight of string in the drilling fluid 13.0 per game. The weight marked the drill string of 13.0 ppg mud is equal to 350 x 0.8015 (280.5 Klb).
According to the calculation, when a drill string is immersed in a drilling fluid, its weight decreases by almost 20%. Therefore, it is very important that all staff working on drill sites should be able to calculate the factor of dynamism in order to understand how the mud weight effects of total weight in a string of well drilling.
