Im trying to connect my guitar to my macbook pro through garage band and to be able to play through my speaker?

I have connected my guitar through my amp to my headphone jack, but the sound only comes through my laptop speakers. is there a way to connect the guitar to my speakers and then my speakers can go in the headphone jack on my laptop?

If your amp has a line out or headphone jack, you could run a quarter inch from there to your macbook and use a quarter inch to eighth inch adapter to plug in to the headphone jack on your macbook. That way, your guitar is still plugged into your amp.

You would most likely have to get the kit from an appliance repair shop or the factory. You should know what your doing when attempting this. Things can go wrong with gas. Most likely the kit will have a spring for the gas valve pressure( propane is a high pressure) and some smaller orifices and a sticker to put on the range saying it has been converted.

Wearing contact lenses while swimming?

I plan to go to dominican republic at the end of this month, and i need glasses. I know that i will be doing a lot of water activities like scuba diving, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, loads of swimming etc and I want to be able to see clearly while doing these activities, am i able to wear my contacts? during swimming do they fall off? i've never tried..

Go to your local dive shop and pick out the mask you'd like.
Buy it and have them send it off to have prescription lenses glued to the inside.

This is a normal process for dive shops.

Kathy Peper wasn't about to let someone she went diving with have a fatal or near fatal incident because they were in poor physical condition.

Peper, owner of Get Wet Scuba in Palm Springs, witnessing and hearing about fitness/health-related fatal and near-fatal dive incidents at Catalina Island, decided to do something about it.

"They were wake-up calls to me," Peper says. "Then I thought about a close div­ing friend who wasn't in good shape, and I thought, you know, he could be next."

Peper noticed that since they'd first started diving together, her friend had lost the stamina he once had. He'd gained weight and had trouble swim­ming on the surface.

"We'd be swimming along and he'd get out of breath," she says. "And I'd be thinking, 'you've got to be kidding — this is an easy dive.'"

For her friend's sake — and the sake of all divers — Peper determined that she needed to do something that would encourage him to get in shape.

"He's the kind of guy who likes peo­ple and loves to do things with a group," Peper says. "So I wanted something that would be a group activity. I could have started a workout group, but I thought it could be more [than that] by bringing our dive center into it."

From there, Get Wet Scuba launched the Get Wet Scuba Fitness Challenge. By far, this isn't your typical fitness challenge that focuses on shedding fat. In setting up the Challenge, Peper recognized that being "fit" for scuba consists of three main areas: physical fitness, education and safety, and participation in diving.

In the Fitness Challenge — held from 1 October 2008 to 1 April 2009 — partic­ipants earned points for their activities, with the winner qualifying for an inter­national dive trip. Participants earned points or met requirements in all cate­gories, and there were minimums. For example, you earn a point for each 30 minutes you exercise, and one to three points per dive depending upon the con­ditions. Participants also had to be DAN members, oxygen and CPR trained, and have participated in at least two continu­ing education dive courses during the Challenge interval.

If you think this is too onerous for the typical diver, guess again. Get Wet Scuba has had broad participation.

"About 40 people signed up when we started," Peper confirms. "And many have been really gung-ho, turning in their score sheets and everything. Our CPR and Oxygen Provider courses did better, and we increased our specialties. The Challenge has motivated quite a few of our customers to get back in shape and to dive more, and it's helped our business during this tight economy."

Peper adds that this is especially sig­nificant because her area has a large proportion of retirees, with a significant part of their client set ages 50 and older.

According to Peper, one reason for the Challenge's success has been peer pres­sure, including her own.

"It's a bit of a guilt trip," she admits, "but a group of us were at Catalina Island [a local dive site] and I pointed out that out of everyone there, only three of us could step up to provide CPR and first aid if something happened, and that wasn't right."

Peper says almost everyone in the group later enrolled in an Emergency First Response course.

Another reason for the success is that Get Wet Scuba has helped participants network in rising to the challenge. Get Wet Scuba maintains a regionalized list of workout buddies so people can get together to train. Not only does this create accountability, but it helps divers find new buddies to dive with. Get Wet also hooked up with a local health club that offers Get Wet Scuba Fit­ness Challenge participants a special rate for a six-month membership.

Peper says that the scuba fitness chal­lenge is definitely something that any PADI operator should consider. She says that it has worked well. The only major change she'd make would be to start promoting it and contacting the media about it earlier. But, she says, challenges like this go beyond helping your bottom line.

"People who have stepped up [to some­thing like this] deserve recognition in our community," she says. "What they do might inspire other people to become active, and that's important no matter who they are."

Diving Knife
Do you need a diving knife when you are skin diving?

I can understand that if you go scuba diving that you might need a knife because you are down there so long, but when you are skin diving you are only underwater a couple of minutes. Do you need a knife when you are skin diving? If so give me some advice on what kind I should get. Thanks

It would be a good idea to have one with you when you are doing any type of diving. I've used mine to cut fishing line at 15ft all the way down to cutting an old net at 80ft. It's also darn useful to have when you are tying stuff down and have to cut the ropes. I have found the blunt nose ones to work best for me as I don't risk poking holes in my drysuit with them. It took a while to get here, swimming in the ocean as a way to get better. I was tired of eating every two days. Just can not get me to do a run or a hike. And I'd be missing the ocean as well. thinking I might have a brief working visit and get a quick exit, I went for a short swim.

Before I knew it, I'm going three times a week for over a month. Making it a strong swim without resting. And I could not see, really see new lines, new shadows on the body I had not seen for a long time. Then, I decided. That would be my new way of developing. Two to three times a week, I swim for 20-30 minutes (Of course, I timed). And we'll see.

Shortly after the first month, I watched Jaws on TV one night. And then, just later in the same night, I watched "Shark Attack" on Animal Planet. Oh, baby. That was it. Scared me mad all over again. But I built my swim. I can not stop now. So what do I do? Uh-huh. out my sharp knife and diving strap my right calf.

Now I'm standing on the shore again, the heating for swimming. My dive knife is on my leg and I do not feel much better. Come. I know I stand little chance against a shark. Shoot. absolute chance is better that way. Man, I'm afraid. I swam more than 10 minutes right on the ocean, then back again. Just me. But I have to. I just can not stop. Fear, well, in this case, just pisses me off! So I tied my hair back, a few steps from the ocean and dive under. There's sweat to be here in this blue water.

This beautiful U-shaped bay in the smallest village south of a tiny tropical island just above the equator, whew!, Well, it's my very large pool. On the rare occasions water is clear and blue. The visibility is about 30 feet. A clear day today. did not liked at all. Many days drier these days (everybody global warming?). No recent influx of sediment and all kinds of garbage and debris brought from the mountain burned and deposited in the ocean. reefs and coastal marine life to enjoy a few days of "clean air". It is painful knowing that all he needed was a good rain to make the water bright blue drab and dirty looking again. And while I do not want the land needs of more rain.

I am almost at the halfway point. Keep the pace steady. kick flip underwater and the wall is the ocean and head back to shore. Be sure to keep a little boost in my stride. I think if a shark actually attacks me, I do not want to just go down. Oh, no. I will not let a shark punch me in my life, my family. If I'm going down, baby, you come with me. And that is why I have a sharp knife diving.

I stopped swimming for a while simulating an attack against me, the pounding in my head that I must remember seize the knife, no matter what. Pound her nose. whim if I have to. Jam my fingers in both eyes. Shove my hand in its gills. Oh, yeah. It will not be easy. I am equally aware that swimming alone in the ocean have managed to survive a shark encounter. If it comes to that, it will I.

Now I'm halfway to the halfway house. The last minutes of the home stretch. Made it again. I'll tell you, I jumped a boat in the most clear blue water, way, out into the ocean. hundreds of meters on a sunny day with not a thing in sight, above or below water. There is nothing like him and few things come close. And no matter how scared I go and I fear often fear has no chance. I will not allow it. There's just too much beauty in the natural world. Too much experience for that. Really, really wonderful and amazing. I am so grateful that I know.

Whatever be your catching position, the gloves you have on will dictate a good part of your performance. It is important to get yourself the most comfortable baseball gloves and have it broken in for your hand.

Tips on buying a baseball glove

If you are sure of the make and model you want to buy, then order it online. You will get the benefit of a discount, baseball gloves are cheaper online than at the retailer.

If you are not sure of make and model you want, its best to try it out at the local store. Put on the gloves and see if it feels right.

Good quality gloves would cost you anywhere between $50 to $150. Though its tempting to buy a cheaper glove, in the long run you would tend to lose out. It's best to buy quality gloves when you are buying.

If you would be playing infielder, then you would need to go in for smaller gloves, if you are an outfielder you would need to go in for bigger gloves.

If the gloves you buy requires a specific lotion or oil, you can get that from the same shop instead of buying it outside.

Tips on maintaining your baseball gloves

You gloves are made up of 90% leather and 10% other synthetic material. Leather initially would be hard and dry. You would need to break in the glove before they become useable.

a.) Apply a small layer of lotion or oil on your gloves and wipe it dry with a cloth. Handle the gloves with care, don't use a harsh cloth for wiping.

b.) Don't wet your gloves under any circumstance. The leather tends to get heavy because of the moisture.

c.) After a couple of day of oiling, you can play catch with your gloves. While you play catch, make sure you hold the ball at the center of the gloves. The more you play the better the glove will shape.

d.) If you want your glove to shape quickly, you should place a ball in the center of the glove and wrap it up with a belt or shoe string. This helps the glove gain the hollow required for better catching.

e.) Don't leave the glove in the open sun. Heat is very detrimental to your leather glove. Make sure the gloves are always kept in the shade.

I think the nominations were very appropriate for this year.
No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Atonement, Juno, and Michael Clayton were all excellent films.

The movies you listed - Harry Potter 5, Knocked up, Superbad, SpiderMan 3, 300, Hairspray and Beowulf - are not Academy Award material. They are made to be blockbuster pictures. Thats not to say they are not supposed to be good, they just dont compare to the films that were actually nominated - filmmaking wise.

Oscars are given to films that exemplify great filmmaking in all aspects, and those movies you listed do not do that - no matter how popular they were with audiences or how much money they made. The people who nominate and vote for the awards are experts on filmmaking aspects and are in the best position to pick theappropriate movies. The Academy Awards do not usually reflect the wide majority of audience opinions, but they are still the most prestigous film award possible in the industry.

Harry Potter and Spiderman 3 could have recieved Best Visual Effects noms but thats about it. These sequels were not even as good as previous installments of the series. 300 too, but I didnt care for that movie at all and neither did many critics. Beowulf couldnt gotten a Best Animated Picture nom but the films that were nominated were better so it didnt deserve it.

Knocked Up and Superbad were very funny, but the right kind of comedy to get nominated (and as someone said earlier - comedies rarely get nominated). I thought Knocked Up had a chance at Best original Screenplay, but in actuality Academy voters wouldntvote for these types of movies. Plus there is too much improvization for a Screenplay nom.
Hairspray was nominated for a Golden Globe, but again it wasnt Oscar material.

Now having said all that, I though "Into the Wild," "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," "Zodiac," and "Rescue Dawn" were overlooked a little too much in this years awards noms. And although I liked it very much, "Juno" was nominated in too many categories. it should not have been nominated for Best Picture or Best Director.

** Norbit was nominated for Best Makeup.

AND ANYONE WHO REFERS TO "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN" AS A HORROR MOVIE, HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE FILM, THEREFORE SHOULD NOT TRASH IT. And not everyone couldnt have played that part, Javier Bardem gave an absolutley amazing and well deserved winning performance as the killer, Anton Chigurgh.
