What is your favorite SCUBA diving regulator and why?

I have tried many different regulators and my favorite of all time is the Dacor Extreme Plus Regulator but I have trouble finding parts to maintain it. I even have the original dive computers on 3 of the 4 Dacor Extreme Plus Regs as back ups since I use different dive computers on each of them.

Are all metals magnetic? Like, if there was this giant magnet over all samples of metal would not move?

I mean, which is a metal or metal alloy joint will not adhere to its giant magnet? That painting (acrylic paint or simply a common) for magnetability affect metal samples? I mean, all metals and metalloids in the periodic table exist. Oh, not so much what metals are magnetic, then? And is there magneticability any difference between steel and steel staineless? Anything made by man starts to fall apart even before its finished. A Ghillie Suit is no different. It gets an awful lot of help though from the end user. Crawling along uncertain ground, running through brush with branches grabbing for it all the way, and usually being stored wet and dirty. One look at a mans Ghillie Suit will tell whether hes got his heart in whatever he's doing. Whether it's hunting or paintballing or something else, he's going to put a lot of wear and tear on his suit doing it.

A lot of misled macho types believe that the suit should never be cleaned. These are the same ones that believe it has to be dragged through cow patties and such before it's ready for use. They also never wash their coffee pot. I should be promoting this behaviour since they'll be needing a new suit much sooner that way. I am not an advocate of this thinking and I would like for you to get a lot of years service from your Ghillie Suit.

The first rule is to keep it clean and dry. Cleaning a suit with the new synthetics is a breeze. I find that laying one out on the driveway and hosing it down is really effective. Use plain water, no soaps or chemicals. This works on the older suits too. The older ones just take a lot longer to dry. Dry is an absolute must. No matter how clean you think you have it, if you put it away wet, you won't recognize it when you pull it out again. Things grow in moist places. If you hang it up wet in a closet next to your wife's Sunday-go-to-meetin clothes, you will discover another reason for keeping it clean and dry.

By the very nature of a Ghillie Suit its going to get snagged on branches and such and will most likely suffer some damage. Threads will become shredded or torn loose completely. Webbing Will break in places. Not to be concerned. You don't have to fly in your Hong Kong tailor. The threads are usually tied on with a simple overhand or a loop knot. Simply untie the damaged one and tie a new one in its place. If its the sort of suit that has thread sewn onto some material, shove your needle through the cloth, take it around the clump of thread, shove it back through the cloth and tie a knot.

If you have broken webbing, tie a piece of cord across the gap. You can only make it better. Very rarely will you find a suit damaged so badly that it has a big hole in it. Over time you may decide the colors have faded or you have moved and your new terrain is not coordinated with your suit. The thread can be bought in almost any color you like and tie it on as mentioned before. You are not confined to the thread we sell. Look around your house and find cloth in the colors you need and cut narrow strips of it and tie or sew it on. You can only make it better. Every time you go out in your Ghillie Suit look it over and see if there is a place that needs another color or maybe a little more density. If you are constantly improving it, there is no way it can deteriorate.

scuba diving Going pro?

the pro status for scuba diving goes from divemaster, open water instructor,specialty instructor, master scuba diver trainer, IDC staff instructor, master instructor, and course director. I have a dive shop that can certify me all the way up to a master instructor but i was wondering how much on average is made by each level.. i know theres alot of things involved whether they own their business or if they just go in for someone in teach classes thats why its just a range im looking for each one.. bc i plan on opening a dive shop once i get my open water inst. cert. but i will continue from there to get the rest but im curious how much will be made not that im looking to be a millionaire from this but only make a good living for me and my family

Wow! You should really slow down with these plans. These certifications are important and take lots of time, especially actual dive log time.

I have spoken to many dive shop operators in my area, (west florida), and find that it is not an easy way to make a living. You really do this for the love of diving.

The more successaful outfits, own boats, rental gear. and teach anything from how to swim, on up to the higher levels you mention. Remember, the economy is not the greatest right now, and many of your potential customers are cutting expenses on luxury hobbies like diving.

This is a great idea you have, but "slow down", and anticipate the unexpected first. Many operators lose their as_es in this field. I would suggest going one step at a time, and be certain you have the market to sustain the investments you are considering.

Dive Computer Nitrox

I need a useful, inexpensive dive computer used (o2/EAN) to use as I finish my certificates. What are my best bets?

No I'm hurting as much money as I want to wait until we know more about diving I'll do before I put a thousand dollars or more in a dive team. I just need a reliable machine to help me log my dives and underwater keep me informed as I finish my diving instructor and instructor certifications. I am certified EAN so I'd like a team that is responsible for air and Nitrox. Looking for the best bang for my money on a cheap, easy to use second-hand model. Thanks to all who reply!

If you go for your Dive Master cert then you should know this. But I'll say it again and first off the bat. They have all the equipment used checked and serviced by a qualified dealer. Note that a computer may be, it is considered life support. If the computer goes blank, it can still breathe. But I do not know the amount of air you have left, depth, etc, unless you have a backup in the tank. Scuba do suggest you visit and check com comments arts. Even participate in the forum, a lot of great people there. Both of these resources will help you determine what you want. i want to learn to scuba dive, but im fat?

okay i love swimming, but i wear shirts, so if i go scuba diving, i have to wear a wetsuit/drysuit that is really really tight. i want to learn, but im fat, and you are going to see me all tight and stuff....help

You don't HAVE to wear a wet suit when you scuba dive. It's a matter of your tolerance to water temperature and protection from cuts/scrapes and stings. You could wear work coveralls for the later if you wish. Bob's right, you will see all kinds of people diving. Wear a t-shirt OVER your wet suit.
Since bigger people usually prefer it colder you may not need a wet suit.

The volume on the HTC Touch Pro coming from the speakers, is low, thus during phone calls, it can be hard to hear the other person. I've dug around in the settings and everything and can't find a thing to adjust it.
