Is there something to help breath under water besides scuba gear and a snorkal?

because i once saw a underwater show and they kept sticking this thing in their mouth to help them breath, is that possible to buy? or is it crazy expensive and not for sale for just people who want it?!?

Is it worth buying second hand diving gear?

I have been offered a SUUNTO MOSQUITO watch, a mares 1998 syncro pro BCD in good condition, mares fins in good condition, and old mares reg, scuba pro knife, boots, gloves, weight belt, mares mask, diver warning bouy, 5mm and short Bare wetsuit in great condition, bare bag. all for $900 but all bought in the 90's except for the watch and wet suits.

You can't use cheap and good in the same sentence. There's cheap. Then there's good.
You'll want a mask that properly fits your face and fins to fit your feet. Those Walmart or similar snorkel sets are not going to accomplish that. If it doesn't fit, it'll make your snorkeling experience suck as your mask floods constantly and your feet hurt or the fins fly off..
Your best bet is to hit a local dive shop. They'll be able to help you out with some quality fitting gear at a reasonable price.

Edit: The set you posted from canadian tire is Dolphino. Fine to look at...uncomfortable to wear. Even their snorkels have a lousy mouthpiece. Jaw fatigue will set in. I know...I tried a similar Dolphino for use in my first pool dives when I was certified. I bought a better mask , fins and snorkel immediately after that first pool session. Remember...you get what you pay for. Those are pool toys. You're actually better off hoping the resort has gear you can rent than buying that set.

Scuba Regulator

What might cause my scuba regulator to wheeze when getting low on air?

I have a brand new first and second stage from oceanic. I've taken the equipment on two dives so far and both times towards the end of the dive I would hear an occasional wheezing noise as I inhaled. Couldn't tell whether it was first or second stage reg, or the hose itself. Anyone have this issue before or know what it means? Thanks for any help.

I'm with DMG - if you haven't had your reg in to be serviced, take it in. Your primary regulator should never 'wheeze' or 'honk'. It's almost certainly the second stage.

I learned recently that it's not unusual for regulators to ship from the factory *not* correctly set to factory specs. I've got an AquaLung (the one actually built by APEKS) and when it came back from its first annual service I had to learn how to handle it all over again because it seemed like it wanted to free-flow. Turns out, my reg was not set right to start with (not bad out of spec, but the difference was noticeable).

Am I getting the right scuba tank?

I mainly wanted to just grab a tank for a paintball refill station for my compressed air. I was looking at this tank.

Either tank will do fine. The 80 / 3000 tank is the smallest tank that I would get for paintball. Your first fill will give you 3000 psi. After that the psi falls. Once you get to less then 2000 psi, it’s nearly useless. If you are getting this for the use of one or two players, it should last you a days play fine. If you are going to support more players you may run short.

Used tanks are not a bad way to go. But check the hydro life on them. New tanks have 7 years of hydro with a yearly visual inspection needed . If the used tank only has 3 years left on it, get the new one.

It’s about twice the cost, however, a steel 120 high pressure (3450 psi) is the best tank for paintball. Assuming your markers tank is 3000, then you will get 3 to 5 completely full tanks before the psi of the scuba tank drops below 3000. Just be sure not to over fill your marker tank.
